They're just bad at being alcoholics. Go for wine over beer everytime, it's more economical and you get drunk faster. Liquor works too, obviously, but only if you're aiming for the grave ASAP. Tried being a whiskey drunk once, it just hurts all the time after awhile. Wine is the way to go.
Also tv dinners are stupid when crockpots exist.
Crockpots are great for when you're on a drink because even if you pass out it doesn't burn your house down or set off a smoke alarm, it just gets tastier.
beer is way less likely to give you a proper hangover.
hard liquor and wine are sold in container sizes that make it a lot easier to abuse. Once you're out of beer the inconvenience/embarrassment of going to the liquor store can be enough of a deterrent to get you to call it a night, where as with wine or whisky it way easier to go "just one more glass" till you black out.
beer is good for maintaining a steady buzz that's easy to sober up from fast, you can easily gauge how much you've drank and how tipsy that will get you. Wine and liquor tend to sneak up on you and once you're drunk you're drunk.
way easier to get away with drinking them in public.
once you've had enough of a certain wine or a kind of liquor it just all tastes the same, the more dramatic differences of different styles of beer can prevent taste fatigue.

Being a bad alcoholic makes it easier to quit though. Drinking 20 beers is harder to do than downing 4 bottles of wine or a fifth of whisky.
Completely valid point. You can taper down with beer.
a lot of alcoholics like to have a beer in their hand and drink it. getting drunk faster is not exactly the goal.
source: myself.
Downing a case in a night is definitely trying to get drunk though
