There's only one thing more cucked than having a Monarch, and it's having a Monarch who doesn't even live in your country, or care that you exist. It's findom on the international scale.

This means you: Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, Barbados , The Bahamas, Grenada, Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Belize, Antigua and Barbuda, and Saint Kitts and Nevis.

I'm genuinely positive that our country is gonna think about becoming a republic when our queen dies. Both her sons are the royal equivalent of fail-children and enjoy only a fraction of the support that she does. Somehow she is also a voice telling our most fervent nationalists to stop being mean to polish people, which lasted for roughly a week.

Might be too optimistic, but our Crown Prince is mostly considered an idiot and even among the Conservatives I am starting to see more and more republican ideas. The sole saving grace for the royals might actually be the future Queen, as most royalists seem to like her, atleast of the ones I've spoken to.

Denmark. Our queen is Margrethe II and her son is called Frederik. The crown princess is from Tasmania and the daughter of a rich guy who became a university professor. But yes, most of what I said in the original comment also applies to England, funnily enough.

Fuck, I forgot I was insulting not only the future king, but also a failson who went through Special Forces training. I'm sure that will make him worth the 1 million dollars he will roughly get every year, since he is appointed by God to take my money or some fucking shit.

Wait what, most people like Frederik it seems and think he would be a "cool" king or whatever? Do agree that most people dislike the idea of a monarchy in general tho

I'd like to be smug about Finland not having royals, but back in 1917 we wanted to fit in with all the other Nordic countries and be a constitutional monarchy. We even had some German baron or count guy lined up to be King but he declined the job after Germany ate shit in WWI

Which countries do these monarchies actually have power? I'm getting tired of googling them all and pretending to understand a parliamentary government.

Which countries do these monarchies actually have power?

Direct political power? Lichtenstein, Luxembourg, and Monaco all still have monarchs with significant direct political power.
Indirect political power? Well, all of the monarchies are rich as shit so...

EDIT: Also the UK monarch literally removed an Australian Prime Minister (and dissolved the Aus Parliament) in 1975, and still has the power to do it again.

Their ceremonial roles also tend to give them a lot of access to powerful people, and a lot of prestige.

Also the UK monarch literally removed an Australian Prime Minister (and dissolved the Aus Parliament) in 1975, and still has the power to do it again.

That was the governor-general, who afaik is only nominally under the control of the monarch. To all intents and purposes they are appointed by the prime minister and use their powers independently. I think that's how it works in all of the non-UK countries that have the British monarch as their head of state.

Anyway the current British royals only seem to be interested in using their influence for stupid shit like promoting homeopathy and interfering with random building projects (and protecting their own status and wealth of course).

Sure indirect monetary power. Thanks for clarifying, i was curious about literal "i can make laws and change the course of the country" type power.

Hey now don’t sell il Papa short, he’s also the spiritual monarch of over a billion people!

And sure, the overwhelming majority of them just pick and choose whether they feel like listening to anything he says, but they still pay taxes to him so really it’s not much different from the other European royals.

English crown has direct rule over Northern Ireland. Its Parliament was suspended because it was something like ~50% Sinn Fien and they couldn't form a government.

English crown has direct rule over Northern Ireland

        No it doesn't.

Its Parliament was suspended because it was something like ~50% Sinn Fien and they couldn’t form a government.

They formed a government in January. The reason they didn't have one prior to that is because Sinn Féin pulled out of the power-sharing agreement with the DUP, mostly over the Cash for Ash scandal (which was as stupid as it sounds), and they failed to reach an agreement to restore it for a long time. Their system of government requires at least the two largest parties to form a coalition government - other parties can join it if they want to - and that has consistently been the DUP and Sinn Féin in recent years.

Also when the assembly and executive are suspended they're just ruled by the UK government in basically the same way that they rule over England. They aren't directly ruled by the monarch.
