There's a thread on /r/aww where the OP had posted his dog Lolita, and everyone in it is convinced that no one could have a connotation attached to the name independent of the book/movie. Feels like it's just brainworms, but maybe I'm the only person in North America that hadn't really heard much about that book until recently.

It's a pretty well known book. Recently came more into public discourse after Epstein, for obvious reasons, but Nabokov is considered one of those "famous writers" all the same.

Lolita is pretty well known, so yeah. There's also lolita fashion but that doesn't have as bad of a connection even if the origin is the same. Lolicon does though.

Its a good book. Still pretty weird to name your dog lolita, though.

It's no use, he sees her

He starts to shake and cough

Just like the old man in

    That book by Nabakov

from the police song about being extremely against fucking young women as their teacher. its also the part of the name for a type of cosplay that intended to look young. honestly, i am having a tough time coming up with a positive reference to lolita outside of this person naming their dog lolita.
