All through the 50s-80s the US was experimenting on their own population. In Clouds of Secrecy: The Armys Germ Warfare Tests Over Populated Areas it goes through all the biological weapons they released on their own unsuspecting population. It is also interesting as a few army generals are brought into court and they reply with such contempt for the public and the direct deaths they caused ("we needed to test! I too would like to learn more about how the military created a 60,000 year old pathogen. They did do research on using ticks to spread diseases/using Lyme as a weapon though

There has been no real (not fake) proof of Lymes disease existing before the 40s.
