    Something I dove into (and couldn't find much on) is the possibility that you could identify that these methods were used when genome sequencing. Seems like it would be incredibly difficult but is it impossible to spot?

    Also these seems more geared for adding on to an existing pathogen, yeah? Like covid-19 couldn't be made "from the ground up", there'd be some backbone they'd add to?

    I swear remember reading a peer-reviewed study months ago about the unlikeliness of directed evolution for covid but I can't find it now. I'm not trying to assert that creating something in a lab is impossible, rather that the hurdles you'd have to clear to do it and make basically everyone think it's natural leads to an Occam's razor situation (for me at least)
