But seriously now that we've learned that COVID may have originated outside China this thread keeps coming back to me.
They aren't your or my enemies but for the haute bourgeoisie it might be a very different matter. Things like cartels and conspiracies exist and even if, for argument's sake, we were to assume that China is completely capitalist the American bourgeoise wouldn't want to get outcompeted and taken over in the long run, so from their perspective such extreme measures could be well warranted. Besides there's the little matter of the deep state (all the alphabet agencies included), which is a cartel of its own with its own hegemonic interests. Not saying that it's a certainty but the plausible motive is there.
