Hey, this is what Hillary had in mind for the coal miners! They already know how to mine, they just need to learn to code!

How the fuck can owning a bunch of single purpose computers be considered a job?

China already did it. People buy warehouses where electricity is cheap, fill them with super basic processors, and then pay a couple guys to maintain them 24/7. Although the last time I heard about this was a couple years ago so who knows if those places are still profitable.

Found the video about it: https://youtu.be/K8kua5B5K3I

Not processors, ASIC circuits (the former hasn't been realistically useful to mine bitcoin for close to a decade). These warehouses even have stuff that'll reduce / turn off the mining dynamically depending on the current price of electricity.

Worldwide, bitcoin alone consumes more electricity than whole countries. And it's only one of many cryptocurrencies; they're an ecological disaster (the only thing going for them is they allow to buy VPNs, servers or drugs anonymously I guess; but you could do that even before they appeared).

Yeah, that sounds about right. I'll try to find the video, it was interesting. This super low-end production compared to that secret geothermal powered facility in iceland or wherever, that you can only visit with a bag over your head.
