My school actually has a club of socialists but I swear they are the least productive group of activists I’ve ever seen. Maybe it’s because everything is online and we can’t meet up, but I keep suggesting we do zoom meetings or have movie nights on their Discord and nobody even bothers to react. I joined the club my freshman year because I was super excited that there was a group of leftists, but their Instagram was barren, and over the course of a year at this school, I’ve received a total of ONE email. Ive only met one person from the group, and attended a local protest, but that’s it. Maybe it’s demotivation that Bernie lost, but I barely got any info from them to begin with. Sucks, since I was so excited to join what i thought was a DSA
Get a position of power in the organization and restructure it, then invite a bunch of friends to join
This is sad to hear, but I'm glad to hear you're trying to light a fire under them which isn't an easy task! Try to find other club members who think like you and coordinate your efforts to get more activity going. I think multiple people asking for a meeting or events to be held would be much more effective than doing it alone. It's a shame to see young socialists who should be studying and practicing their organising skills be idle, but it's a situation worth trying to change.
This is why I don't join clubs, to spare them from myself
We just started a mask collection/distribution group in my local. It's easy and if you can get in contact with any local unions or labor activists they're usually super happy to help distribute. Target places like Whole Foods because Bezos cut the mask budget and they have to buy their own now (from Amazon).
Great opportunity to be like "we're socialists and your boss needs to die, but you don't".
