While "Love Me, I'm a Liberal" gets a lot of traction in leftists spaces Phil Ochs has so many good songs that I think deserve more recognition.
My personal favourites out of his political songs are:
- Ringing of Revolution
- Cops of the World
- Confession
- A Toast To Those Who Are Gone
- Bracero
- Small Circle of Friends
- When In Rome
and many more but i don't want this list to be too bloated lol.
And so many great non political songs(personal favourites again):
- When I'm Gone
- A Year To Go By
- Changes
- Doesn't Lenny Live Here Anymore
- No More Songs --- Full Version here but I prefer the acoustic
- You Can't Get Stoned Enough/Just One o' Those Days/How Long --- the YouTube title doesn't mention that it's three songs in the video for some reason.
- As I Walk Alone
- First Snow
you could argue that some of the non political songs are politicsl honestly. How Long is just political though, no arguing that one, it's just a part of one video so I couldnt' really separate it.
i'm missing out loads here because i don't want the list to be 10000 items long so if there's any phil ochs's songs you personally like please post it.
absolute banger. he almost played that in court for the chicago 7 as well lol.
MR. KUNSTLER: Did you sing a song that day?
THE WITNESS: Yes, "I Ain't Marching Anymore."
MR. KUNSTLER: Did you sing at anybody's request?
THE WITNESS: At Jerry Rubin's request. .
MR. KUNSTLER: I am showing you what has been marked at D-147 for identification and I ask you if you can identify that exhibit.
THE WITNESS: This is the guitar I played "I Ain't Marching Anymore" on.
THE COURT: How can you tell? You haven't even looked at it.
THE WITNESS: It is my case.
THE COURT: Are you sure the guitar is in there?
THE WITNESS: I am checking.
MR. KUNSTLER: Open it up, Mr. Ochs, and see whether that is your guitar,
THE WITNESS: That is it, that is it.
MR. KUNSTLER: Now, would you stand and sing that song so the jury can hear the song that the audience heard that day?
MR. SCHULTZ: If the Court please, this is a trial in the Federal District Court. It is not a theater. We don't have to sit and listen to the witness sing a song. Let's get on with the trial. I object.
MR. KUNSTLER: Your Honor, this is definitely an issue in the case. Jerry Rubin has asked for a particular song to be sung. What the witness sang to the audience reflects both on Jerry Rubin's intent and on the mood of the crowd.
THE COURT: I sustain the objection.
MR. KUNSTLER: Your Honor, he is prepared to sing it exactly as he sang it on that day,
THE COURT: I am not prepared to listen, Mr. Kunstler.

I like "No Christmas In Kentucky" this time of year but basically every Phil Ochs song is a banger imo.
