people talk shit on the idea that the tik tok generation is going to help much, and i 100% agree that age is an awful substitute for class, but as someone who is firmly in gen-z, i know almost no one my age that doesn't have revolutionary potential. Even the ones that aren't political are angry, and alienated, and somewhat aware of that alienation whether they can articulate it or not. The occasional bout of simping for elon or whoever doesn't stop them from resenting the wealthy as a fucking default setting.
The universal acknowledgement that we have no future, no potential for social mobilty, and no control over our lives helps. Like yes, people tiktok age are angry, but more importantly, even the normie ones are signifigantly blackpilled. We have nothing to look forward to, and thats done a lot for radicalisation.
Unfortunately capitalising in that anger is the modus operandi of the right. I feel like it gets a lot worse before it gets better. I'm tired of hearing "oh the next gen will be more progressive than the last" while PewDiPie fans of going on fascist themed killing sprees
Age is 100% a substitute for class when it comes to revolutonary potential, not all desire for revolution is socialist in nature. The vast majority of revolutions around the world happened in countries where the population was young. This doesn't in any way take away from revolutions being derived from material conditions, but as people age they absolutely lose their revolutionary potential. Note when I say revolutionary in this context it's largely about the broader desire to throw out the whole system.
yeah - the american hegemony on media has spread the american terms for almost everything all over the place (this goes doubly for counrties that already spoke english, but is true anywhere that buys american media or even uses twitter etc).
i'm not american, but you might be right about america being fucked. From what i can see the red scare fucked you guys up severely enough that recovery is probably going to be a much bumpier road than the rest of the world will travel.
The road won't just be bumpier but longer. So long that we'll never reach a point where this is a livable society before climate change basically ends civilization as we know it

Unironically, the kids are alright.

This
People always complain about the 'youth these days' as if my hours spent on Reddit were wise.
I only properly quit today when videos broke on the old site

Having hope is dumb. The anger that gen z feels will inevitably be coopted and turned into reactionary politics. America cannot be saved
Nobody said America could be saved.
That is clearly the implication of "the kids are alright" but ok

Do other countries even use our terms for generations
