You know what I'm just gonna say it, I like that southern slavers were killed by former slaves that freed themselves and union boys raining down hell and coming to take confederates shit

General Sherman was bad because he burned down people's homes and stole their money and valuables! wojak-nooo

Slavery is bad and all the ill-gotten gains from it are stained in the blood and suffering of millions. In weeping for its loss, you reveal that you care for nothing but profit regardless of its costsoviet-chad

General Sherman was bad because he didn't burn down enough plantations and didn't kill enough slavers

They slaves should have appealed to their masters’ morality in the theatre of public debate, instead. Once you make them understand that slavery is morally vile, they will free their slaves after they finish a peaceful and timely transition to a slave free workforce.

Me stepping out of my time machine with a rag and a bottle of whiskey "General Sherman sir, I'd like to show you how to make a cocktail I'm rather fond of. And it ain't one of Grant's types of cocktails if you catch my drift"

The day Putin drops dead of Old Guy-Itis, Reddit will dedicate an entire subreddit to jerking off on pictures of his corpse.

Five years later, they'll be on to the New Evil Guy and talking shit about Putin will get you suspended for a month.

Ten years later, people will be writing hagiographies and doing Putin-Salutes because he was a Based Traditionalist who was just looking out for Core European Values.

I for one think Hitler got off rather lightly just getting to blow his own brains out.

In Marvel comics, he has died at least four times

The first time at the hands of the original Human Torch, who blasted him with fire when he tried to blow his brains out

Then when he came back as the Fantastic Four villain, The Hatemonger, he died when he tried to use his Hate Machine on New York, only for the Fantastic Four to turn the machine on him, causing some of his own men to shoot him dead

Then Nick Fury killed him when tried the same plan, but from a space station. This time it's definitively revealed that the Nazi scientist Arnim Zola was just cloning Hitler a bunch, but Nick Fury manages to destroy the facility.

The final time was when the Red Skull tried to put Hitler's original preserved brain into Captain America's body, he failed of course, but instead was implanted into an android body. This incarnation was destroyed when he attempted to use the Cosmic Cube to rewrite history, only to end up overloading his brain with omniscience and deleting himself from existence

I can't recommend Radio War Nerd's episodes on the Civil War enough - they do a great job of going over just how psychotically evil the slaveholding class was.

The Confederates Who Should Have Been Hanged - The War Nerd

I’m not talking about justice here. Justice would have demanded hanging every Confederate with a rank of colonel or higher. But often the higher the rank, the older the man, the more tired and harmless he was by the time of the Surrender. Jefferson Davis, for example; justice says he should have hanged, if not tortured to death, but Davis was such a disaster as a Confederate symbol that he wasn’t one of the more dangerous post-war figures. Better to let losers like Davis live on as buffoons rather than kill them and start the songs and poems going.

No, I’m talking about practical killing. Who were the most dangerous ex-Confederates in 1865? Could they have been identified and killed before they neutralized all the gains of America’s most costly war?
