The wierd thing about politically “neutral” subreddits is that if early on a leftist sentiment is shared with just enough ‘civility’ to get upvotes, then the thread will be filled with leftist aligned comments and ideas. But if the most upvoted comment is “nazis are actually nuanced, I am very smart” then everyone will just be copying that guy. It really goes to show how grange Reddit’s algorithm is, that the entire tone of a conversation hinges on who got the most votes in the first couple seconds.
