    Eh, I get that it's a meme but to be fair most people making any kind of music are broke. But the successful ones - including a lot of the indie acts that made it big even from 10-15 years ago - are trust fund kids. Off the top of my head, arcade fire comes from oil money and Mumford and sons includes the son of a br*tish hedge fund manager worth close to a billion pounds iirc

      Yep, even "High art" genres. Average Soloist Opera Singer earns near or below minimum wage in just about every country you can think of. Chorus usually earns slightly more.
