Yeah, say what you want about the MCU but the movies are easy breezy watches compared to Zack Snyder's headache-inducing ponderous DC movies. They also manage to hit a similar tone and quality with most releases.

It's easy to see why one brand has broad appeal while the other one's struggled.

And like, I have no idea how he connects that to 'moms' liking it, as opposed to 'real nerds' (which for some reason can only be young white males?) when the whole reason people hated Man of Steel is that the characters were too different from the comics. As annoying and commercialised the MCU is, they're more true to the spirit of the source material then most comic book movies.

Remember when Lindsey Ellis put him on blast a few weeks ago for being a creep? That was funny and also my first exposure to Film Robert.

If nerds getting mad their capeshit isn't as popular as other capeshit is what leads them to oppose deportation squads, labor exploitation, mass incarceration, neocolonialism, and climate collapse, then I'll happily take the win

Marxism is when you don't like women because Stalin is the only person you can ever love and all women pale in comparison

Truly embarrassed I ever liked this guy

Oh god tell me about it. I deeply respected MovieBob at one point. He actually helped me a lot, by helping to get me out of certain toxic geekdom fueled misogynist mindsets. I came to agree with most of his movie takes (like the only time I remember disagreeing with him was when he hated Amazing Spiderman and I thought it was pretty ok), even more controversial ones like his defense of Spiderman 3 and his defense of Sucker Punch. I also think he's responsible for making me still, even after becoming a leftist, a huge sucker for capeshit in general but the MCU specifically.

I wish he had never gotten a twitter. He's never put these takes into his videos as far as I know.

I would love it if the Red Letter Media guys made a Nerd crew skit where Mike is trying to explain why radicalism is on the rise because housewives find old Picard sexier than Kirk...

I literally can't get my head around this train of thought. It just so suddenly teleports from "marvel good" to the popularity of marxism and there's nothing to link those two things.

I remember hearing about him leaving The Escapist again, assuming the site had run into financial trouble, then I realised he was the only one leaving.

      Oof
