Is /r/PublicFreakOut a leftist sub at this point? Because I get extremely fucking hyped up about how anti-cop they are at this point. So much so that there's a rightwing offshoot sub now. Like I'm sure there's still lib shit posted there and I think i've seen anti-CPC stuff? But like, damn the posts about police brutality are exciting not depressing.
I know there have been ppl on here who were or are less than happy at the sheer number of trans posts on chapo but stuff like this reminds me that a trans accepting/friendly space online kinda has to do that as a neccessity as it needs to act as a counterweight to other websites where background transphobia is taken as given.
Also makes it easier to get rid of transphobes with the posts as ban bait.

Casual transphobia on reddit is fucking awful. There used to be a sub for basically complaining about period cramps and other pms symptoms. Then someone made a post saying that it's insulting to women to refer to people who get period as "people who menstruate/people who get periods" because only women get periods. All the comments explaining why transmen/intersex people wouldn't like that were downvoted and it was just really fucking gross.
Shit like that shows the difference between a TERF and just a transphobe and the different tactics they use to be transphobic. TERFS use women as a shield for their transphobia while transphobes are more outright with it. People who are less aware might get sucked into TERF rhetoric thinking they're being a feminist.
