Shit like this really does hurt and make Black comrades feel alienated. It’s pretty clear that he’s appropriating AAVE to be “ironic” because of course an educated rich white male wouldn’t normally talk so “funny.” Pisses me off that these are the people we’re supposed to see as leaders tbh.

    Back in my day we called it "cultural diffusion". Is it so crazy that bits of dialect spread across the whole language?

    It's not like Will is doing a "how do you do, fellow blacks" or even "as a black man" bit. It's a phrase, and fetishizing a phrase will obscure the actual pursuit of racial justice/equitability.
