Sorry to quote a bad TV show at you, but the Greenlandic economic strategy has always been to wait for the ice to melt and hope there's oil. They continually and recklessly invite every single foreign capitalist remotely interested in mineral exploitation to the country, hoping that another mining boondogle will start and give the country economic independence. They all fail eventually (The current ruby mine is such an obvious fucking scam it's physically painful), and they all fail to give Greenland the independent economy it wants.

That is literally not a thing that is happening, and I don't know where you got that idea. There are two active mines in Greenland, the ruby mine in Fiskenæsset (I don't remember the Kalaallisut name, which I guess marks me as a filthy coloniser) Qeqertarsuatsiaat and the titanium mine in Kangerlussuaq (Here I don't remember the Danish name), neither of which are under embargo or blocked from trading with China. Denmark is not capable of stopping a Canadian company from trading with China, it just isn't.
Greenland has tried to entice Chinese business to come to China, but so far their only interest has been acquisition of part of Greenland Minerals (An Australian prospecting company) which Denmark did not block.
Denmark did try to make moves to create a true economic bloc policy back in like June of last year, but that failed when Greenland told them to fuck off.

Edit: Literally the only recent blocking of Chinese economic activity I remember is the blocking of the purchase of Grønnedal by the Danish government. But that's a military station not a mine.
