It's that damn End of History argument that libs like Fukuyama love so much, despite (or perhaps because of) how fundamentally non-materialist such a worldview and conception of history is.

I think i remember reading somewhere that Fukuyama himself actually admitted that he was wrong. But of course, the idea it self still lingers on.
