Matt Lodder seems decent. I have a friend who read some of his work on the historical tattoo culture and raved about it and I've seen him on Twitter before dunking on 'rational historian' BBC gammons who tried and failed to own him for 'just studying tattoos' when he used that knowledge to completely demolish their false assumption.

If you wanna use your framework, fucking develop new terms. Labeling Neonazis as anarchists might give you brownie poitns at bourgeoisie clubs, but not from anyone else.

to be fair tho, in the american context, libertarians are without a doubt right-wing in the way he describes.

yea he's not too bright, but he seems to be a supporter of corbyn, and he's kind of on the right track terminology aside.

Mine was some white guy from Vermont, who went to study ideology of Soviet mathematical economists for 3 years by digging in some basement in Moscow for old notebooks and doing interviews.

If you're cool, they're a lot less likely to hire you, and you're a lot less likely to apply in the first place.

If you're a :LIB: you're exactly what they're looking for and that's a dream job for you.

I read this article and it's absolute drivel.

        • "there is little to nothing to distinguish between Stalin and Hitler"
        • anarchism is right-wing because strongmen would immediately create oppressive autocracies

        Get fucked, Doug

I've never seen an unironic horseshoe theorist also be so insufferably, terminally smug.

Also I'm not a philosophy professor but I am pretty sure consequentialism does not work that way.

So fucking facile, of course it's about power, but power of who and to do what Douglas! That's literally politics. Jesus christ.

These are the over-educated, middle and upper class smug liberals who think they know how the world works. This guy makes it a point to condescendingly talk down to people like he knows everything. He's got a piece of paper that tells him he's smart, so he apparently is.

Some Twitter comment had a nice summation of it in the form of "people who think they know a lot about everything because they know a lot about one thing."

Like, how hard is it to talk to ONE anarchist? EVERYONE knows at least one, and everyone knows it, because THEY WILL NOT SHUT UP ABOUT BEING ANARCHISTS. Like Arnie, I love you as a person, and I Love this whole energy, but We Get It.

But yeah, any anarchist can tell you that ain't it. Hell, even I could tell him. I'm like six glasses of red wine silly right now, and I could still explain it. Or he could just, you know, not use words he ain't know the meaning of. That's like the one thing you learn in academia because if you do that shit, EVERYONE gets all up your nose about it. Gets super embarrassing. People be PEDANTIC.

I refuse to believe, if where he studies is a decent university with a good sized philosophy department, that there is not a single person who is at least somewhat familiar with actual anarchism and would have told him off because I'm sure he's got garbage understanding of other philosophy branches too.
