I’d credit it more to the fact that Trump couldn’t secure the military. A More Competent Fascist ™️ would have done more over their presidency to gain support from their generals and likely wouldn’t have lost so much Congressional support to McConnell post-election. You fail to organize with a purpose and fail to convince/kill your keyholders and your revolution will lose. They raided a building that’s purposefully difficult to secure, took no hostages, had no demands, and didn’t even try to take command and control. They have ex-military amongst their ranks who will have quickly recognized these failures and been taking notes.

That's just it though; fighting for the dying husk of an empire isn't worth it. Dying for it even less. It'd be far more effective and humanitarian to help those people evacuate than to die for the empire. If you can fight and die for the empire you can better apply that willingness to do praxis into helping the vulnerable escape, because that's an actual noble cause.

This is a fantasy. It is impossible to simply "evacuate" tens of millions of people (at minimum) from the U.S. Even if it were possible, abandoning the U.S. to open fascism quite directly endangers the entire planet.
There's no way to check out of this problem, at least not long-term.
Thinking about it, you present an awful choice once I consider this holistically; on the one hand, you're fighting for the lives of people who deserve help, on the other you're still helping empire consolidate its grasp and legitimize its own existence in a time of crisis. You may help save lives, but at the cost of a newly strengthened, now further emboldened and hardened empire with god-knows-what kind of future leadership and potential ideological purges lined up.
