I had this experience with Grillo’s Pickles. They have whole garlic heads and masses of dill, on the stem, floating around in the container.

    Absolutely exquisite.

But honestly home made cucumber pickles are extremely good, I don’t even think you have to try that hard and they’ll come out great

i make my own, and grilos are what i would similar the closest analogue. pretty basic to put together. I love experimenting with adding different spicy peppers in as well.

        this recipe looks closest.

From what I remember it was like a quart jar with 1/2 or 1 cup plain white vinegar (the rest water), some salt, peppercorns, dill, garlic cloves maybe just smashed, a few red pepper flakes and some mustard seeds. I don’t really remember proportions or measurements but it’ll probably be good either way.

They’re supposed to just sit in the fridge for maybe a day then they’re good to go, but even after a couple hours they’re pretty bomb; takes maybe 20 minutes to put together. I used discs for the cucumbers, I think they’d have to sit a lot longer for whole cucumbers

If you find yourself going through pickles too fast to afford grillo's I have a secret: just buy cucumbers and save your grillo's brine and reuse it.

you can use the brine as a ranch dressing/dip base just mix with equal parts sour cream and mayonnaise, add other spices to taste, if needed.

wouldn't that wind up a pretty thin dip/dressing with equal parts brine and sour ceam/mayo?

sorry I was being confusing (oops old speckled hen), the base is mayo + sour cream and I add the leftover brine for flavor

ah yeah, just a little for flavor is def good if it's just laying around. also old speckled hen is good, haven't had that in ages.

I make my own pickles, but my favorite store bought are Wickles. spicy and sweet and so good.

I haven't had these pickles before, but Bubbies are the best. they're naturally fermented, no added vinegar
