It's interesting to see his image get adopted as a progressive force against the US empire.

These are the same people who drew the viral George Floyd mural back in June.

Bruh the people in Idlib are not a progressive fighting force, they are literally Al-Qaeda remnants who are funded by Erdogan, lmao. Why do so many leftists seem to back literal fascists?

Are you trying to say that every person in Idlib is Al-Qaeda? There is nothing here to identify these people as combatants for any force. They are just Idlib citizens.

I have a hard time believing the people tagging the city with pro-BLM, anti-American murals are aligned with the US-supported Al-Qaeda & Erdogan forces.

It is an occupied city in a civil war. Dismissing every single resident as "literal fascists" is one of the worst things I've seen someone say.

I could totally see Erdogan aligned people tagging pro-BLM, anti-American murals. Not because they support BLM, but because it pisses Americans off and also KARA BOGA

The rest of your post is true but also it's not out of the question that they'd do that if they were supported by Erdogan. US-Turkey relations have been getting sorta tense lately because Erdogan wants to play his own game without being restricted by the US, and he "supported" BLM. I believe you are right overall but also bear in mind that it's not exactly so simple.

The only thing I've seen from Erdogan on BLM was the conversion he had with Trump where they discussed the connections between BLM, "Antifa", and the PKK [1]

Edit: I guess he did condemn the murder of George Floyd [2]

Yes, that was what I am talking about, and generally recently he's tried to "own" the US by saying stuff like that because he is pissed they are restricting his plans, and he flirts with Putin.

I find it hard to believe, considering the fact that most Americans who fought for the PKK were also involved in the BLM protests.

They don't really care about what the political opinions of the 20 Americans who fought for the PKK were. The vast majority of people don't even know about them. There is more at stake here. Politics are not the same all over the world, there are some sets of beliefs that in the US signify someone has x position in the ideological spectrum that completely fail in other places. Erdogan phrased some support for the George Floyd protests because he owns the US. Someone in Turkey believing the US has a racist police problem doesn't mean they're progressive or even that they're not racist themselves. It's kinda like how western islamophobes get angry about the treatment of uighurs in China.

It doesn't mean they are reactionary, either. We know nothing about these peoples' politics besides the fact that they oppose US involvement in the region.

It seemed to me that a story about "BLM cooperating with the PKK" would serve as better propaganda. Turkey is at war with the PKK, they are a more pressing issue. US & Turkey relations are not that bad. Less a reason to propagandize.

The only we hear about Uighers is because China is a state enemy.

Yes, I agreed with that part. I also agreed that they're probably cool.

US & Turkey relations are not that bad.

You may think that from the perspective of someone who lives in the US so you may have missed a couple things. The US is actually gonna start enforcing (pretty light) sanctions against Turkey, this was voted a few weeks ago, relations have been getting worse for some time. There's many reasons for that but the main reason is that Erdogan feels somewhat restricted by the US and has been flirting with Putin for a while because he wants to be less dependent on other powers.

even light sanctions on turkey from a US POV represent the decline of american empire and influence in the region and the "loss" of turkey

I dont think turkey has had total control over the folks in Idlib since like 2017. plus there's a whole lot of factions within the territory who are in conflict with each other.

theres hardly any endorsement here tho...its just kind of funny.

Also, Turkey never had "total control" over the people in Idlib. The occupation was wildly unpopular, and there has been political dissidents.

This isn't a photo of Al-Qaeda forces. It is a photo of Idlib citizens. Like, the fact I live in a city occupied by US police & military doesn't make me pro-US.

I think they're just making fun of the farcical nature of the whole thing. Look at Trump's head on the seal holding a stick of dynamite and a missile/bomb. Don't think these people are in support, at worst they prob just think the growing shitstorm is kinda funny.
