Maybe you know me, maybe you don't. I've been on here (and on the sub) for more than two years. I saw the quarantine. I saw the ban. I saw Bernie getting ratfucked. I saw the rise of covid. I saw Tara Reade. I saw the megathreads. I saw the support. I was radicalised here. And now it's all going away.

I'm deleting the site from my password manager to ensure that I can't log in again. Shame, it was a killer username, but this really is the end.

Why am I leaving? Hmm. Gosh. I wonder. Use intuition, deduction, and common sense based on recent events and what you know.

matrix is @cadence:cadence.moe if you want to talk. don't feel obliged to.

I don't know. An entirely LGBT/POC admin team would be a good start. It's not the current admin team's fault, but it's the current admin team's demographics' fault. We joke about "more trans drone strike commanders" but that critique is based in their neoliberalism. Diversity does improve a team so long as the politics are still there.

Honestly I think the spam report feed will always be too toxic, I think there should be something like frontline and backline mods, where some people trudge through deleting shit, and others tell them how to do it better, and remove them if they fuck up badly. Until it costs 10 dollars to make an account, modding will be an incredibly unhealthy activity, even if you literally ban all cis people right now.

My feeling is that the only way that chapo.chat will see any semblance of a trans userbase again is after federation is implemented (and I have a feeling that our trans comrades aren't exactly yearning for the prospect of hanging out here again, so it might not happen)

Take a look at the vote ratio on this extremely uncontroversial post on !transenby_liberation@hexbear.net. How the fuck are there 35 people downvoting that?

Stuff like this is what trans comrades are pointing to, and you're right that it's easy to miss if you're mostly hanging out on the front page. But from the perspective of someone who makes a post like that and gets a fuckload of downvotes, and then sees that happen to more of their posts, and to other trans people's posts... there's a clear pattern.

I'm cis, so I don't want to speak too far out of turn or anything, but I find this post incredibly transphobic. The question I keep asking (internally) is whether it's an indication of stupidpol wrecker pricks, or an indication of latent transphobia (which largely results from the now apparent but usually quiet overlap between genuine chapo and stupidpol users)
