I live near a VERY dangerous highway and I need a vehicle big enough to carry a decent amount of groceries in, so a motorbike probably wouldn't be for me. :(
Don't blame you, my old commute was about the same without the highway, i would say i nearly became one with the universe about once every couple of weeks
I used panniers and a rucksack to get my shopping home, you can fit a surprising amount of stuff in there if you pack it well
But yeah, you're probably better off with a car
Motorbikes are cheaper than cars and less shit for the environment, higher risk of becoming road jam though

Yeah I drive an hour to and from work on a extremely fucky highway with horrible drivers. Ain't no way I would get a motorbike.
