It’s actually not like building a lego set. If you’ve never touched theory or praxis you’re going to need a ten minute video just to figure out how to organize a union at your work even though that’s a pretty simple job if your state allows it and I know I had anxiety considering they were basic organizing tool because my boss might try to fire me. And even if it was as simple as building a dual power network and sharing resources was still a pain in the ass.

Trying to imagine how telling people that over throwing capitalism, joining all the factions fo the left and verifying that they do indeed work together and fit inside a mass movement of the working class after figuring out what theory you need and leading the working class from scratch is like building legos is not a mark of being a complete dweeb.

Especially when a lot of people who have never even read theory from previous revolutions before are probably completely new to that sort of thing in general and have no frame of reference.

In short I’d really like chapos to shut the fuck up.

    I've read theory, I would never touch organizing a union without lots of extra research. I agree about the chapos though.

            I've thought about it but the problem is the advice or strategy varies wildly depending on circumstances and industry. Its hard to write something specific enough to be of use without giving someone bad advice and I'd hate to fick someone out of a job like what happened to Beatnik.

            Honestly the best information I've found for the broad strokes is WorkingStiffUSA who did an AMA here a while back. Her youtube series is great.

      Agree about the unions. Was doing a translation from ikea furniture to revolutions; turns out they don't map onto each other perfectly :curious-marx:

    大海航行靠舵手,万物生长靠太阳。

    雨露滋润禾苗壮,干革命靠的是毛泽东思想。

    鱼儿离不开水呀,瓜儿离不开秧。

    革命群众离不开共产党。

    毛泽东思想是不落的太阳。

      Google translate:

      The navigation of the sea depends on the helmsman, and the growth of everything depends on the sun.

      The rain and dew nourish the seedlings, and the revolution depends on Mao Zedong Thought.

      Fish cannot be separated from water, and melon cannot be separated from seedlings.

      The revolutionary masses cannot do without the Communist Party.

      Mao Zedong Thought is the sun that never sets.

    It would be real fricking easy if you shut up and :vote: . We just took the senate with THE YOUNGEST SENATOR since Joe Biden and you claim this isn't a revolution.

          You definitely don't need it. Mainly just eats up resources from more useful classes

            I have a dream:

            /**private class bourgeoisie {
            return void
            }**/

            public class proletariat {

      Step one: get mad at the people exploiting you. Step two: find 10 friends and get them mad, too Step three: revolution

              Bernie's popularity comes from the people who were already looking for alternatives before he started campaigning. We already had Occupy in 2008. He was a stepping stone for a lot of people sure but he would never have been popular if people weren't searching for something different.

      The furniture instructions are also not essential. It is helpful to build revolution from the past experiences. It is the duty of the communist party to make the knowledge accessible. Chairman Mao and Lenin circulated a lot of pamphlet.

        Learning from and avoiding past mistakes is always good. Understanding the world and the players enough to predict how they will fight back is also helpful.

        Necessary? Let's try a bunch of revolutions, for fun and science, and see how it goes.

    It's not easy even if efforts weren't being consciously targeted against. It's a big fight - we're asking for the world and nothing less.

    We are in a regime of low profit and incredible precarity in the imperial core. The situation is excellent for radicalization and the empire is weakening and confused abroad and at home. The timeline is short and shortening, we have essentially only this decade to overthrow capitalism and usher in production for social and ecological need or we will shoot well past 2 degrees of warming and there will be nothing we can do besides make the mass equivalent of hospice care for global civilization and the vast majority of the global population. What history is demanding of us and where we seem to be in terms of capability is... disappointing.

    But there's nothing to do but try, I guess, do your best. Join an org, whichever you vibe with, or gather some of your like-minded friends in an affinity group. Do your best to aid other efforts, for example supporting or door knocking for demsoc candidates, going to protests against police violence, sharing with your neighbors, bailing out anarchists, going to public lectures put on by MLs, and so on. Don't get overloaded, but yeah we need people to actually be doing stuff and trying stuff or we are doomed.
