"This former US president was impeached on January 19th, 2021 at 11:59pm,"

Jeopardy contestant: "Who is President Bean Dad?"

    "I'm sorry, that's incorrect."

Me from my Chase Bank debt resolution and retirement holding cell: "Ah, shit, I thought it was President Bean Dad too."

Say what you want about President Bean Dad, he did finally win the war on poverty...by declaring it a personal problem that is not the state's responsibility.

Just remember that somewhere in the White House he is currently a white-hot ball of anger, neutered by his increasing powerlessness as the actual powers that be abandon him, and his inability to just tweet through it.

    Lol

Impeaching trump when he has like 2 days left is a top tier bit

Nobody will remember him by 2024.

He will run in 2024 against Kamala Harris and win.

Wait, are you claiming that “insurrection” didn’t happen? What do u characterize a mob attacking the capital as it was legitimizing the handover of power to the next leader? I am curious.

Did the first impeachment not do that? Does a President need to be impeached twice for something like that to happen?

No, he needs to be impeached and convicted for any of that to happen. Looking at the Senate, my guess is that it's probably not going to happen, but one can dream.

Not true. Even if they vote to bar him from running he could probably find a way around it. https://abc7.com/can-an-impeached-president-win-a-second-term-in-2024-if-trump-resigns-he-run-again-25th-amendment-was/9568187

So if my lib knowledge is up to date, McConnell has said he isn't planning to reconvene the senate until at least the 19th. To quote the /r/politics summary:

making it likely that the impeachment trial will take place during the beginning of President-elect Joseph R. Biden’s administration.

    hahaha what the fuck

Sounds about right. Still funny to listen to my boomer parents terrified over what they think Biden will do, but they'll still accept that he's a lame duck president before the average reddit lib.

I don't care if it's lib as shit, this is actually awesome.

I mean the democrats are doing it because their sacred institution was vandalized via a couple of big round uncles, cousins and nephews all running around hog wild in the capitol rearranging various furniture pieces and the Democrats are taking it seriously. This also is 100X more of a legit reason to actually impeach the president, rather than the weird ass quid pro quo shit literally ever American forgot after the impeachment trail.

Is this impeachment going to do anything? No. Is it petty? Yes. Is it good? Also yes.

it's the first time by my count that an impeachment is over something that can meaningfully be construed as a crime against the government and not wishy-washy nonsense like lying over a blowjob or firing a secretary without permission

and yet it's still just a bunch of spectacle

Made the mistake of turning on npr, they were slobbering all over Liz Cheney's dick and hinting that when she invariably runs as a democrat she will be greeted as a liberator.

Ask any normal person on the street to explain this, what it is, why it happened, what it does, if trump is already impeached, etc, and you'll get blank stares or comically wrong answers, even for libs. Nobody normal gives a shit, right? Or is the country truly lost?

Can't wait to see how libs will try to rehabilitate Donnys image after they all kicked and screamed for this impeachment and the last one, like how the fuck will they do it, they will try at some point, of course, but I really legitimately want to see how they try.

Inevitably it will likely be some "well it wasn't THIS bad back in 2020!" Same as it always is with the "this is the most important race of our generation" every race.
