      i agree with your sentiment, but, based on my reading of the article, it feels like a family dispute/murder (happened in a home at 4am) whereas mass shootings tend to exist to maximize casualties in a large gathering

      that depends; what label are you going for, how are the people connected, where did each die, and how far apart were their deaths(chronologically, where the previous question can tell us spatially)?

      there's a whole system for the taxonomy of these things.

        Here's the thing. You said a "household shooting is a mass shooting." Is it in the same family? Yes. No one's arguing that. As someone who is a scientist who studies mass shootings, I am telling you, specifically, in science, no one calls household shootings mass shootings...

      I remember reading about a scoreboard on Encyclopedia Dramatica when i was an edgy teenager, but fuck, if it doesnt get high on that scoreboard its basically not news at this point. Shit sucks man.
