I'm not sure I follow. Of the top 100 chess players in the world based on ELO ranking, 99 are men. If one of those players started HRT and began entering and sweeping women's tournaments, there'd be plenty controversy.

I think a really good case study would be to look at chess players and see if their ELO changes post-HRT based on the tournaments they're allowed to enter.
