Not embarrassing at all. No Sir.

Just really fucking cool.

Not a personal affront to me, more like the community as a whole. A lot of people here would probably be helped by a comm dedicated to being smart with your money. Few people will be helped by a stock market gambling comm, and a lot will be directly harmed. If they actually convert it to a personal finance comm like they say they will then that's good but allowing the "stocks gambling is praxis, actually" bullshit to propagate in the meantime is a bad move imo.

If you look at the modlog you'll see upward of a dozen threads posted to main removed and redirected about this today give it's the biggest news story of the week because of our incredibly dumb economy, media, and callous disregard to an ongoing pandemics.

The new comm is pretty obviously a way to contain all of those in one place. So trying to treat that unique situation as a judgement on your other comm proposals or anything else doesn't make that much sense.

How do you feel about this extremely normal post? https://hexbear.net/post/78279

It's not exclusively a containment comm though. If it was a containment comm it should've been called something like wallstreetnews or stonks or something like that and make it clear that it's not for advice on investing/gambling. Specifically calling it wallstreetbets sends the message that it's meant to serve the same purpose as /r/wallstreetbets, and if you browse the comm it's clear that people are interpreting it that way.

Or you could call it /c/wallstreetbets because the event was caused by /r/wallstreetbets, and discussions about the new developments in the saga as well as discussions about how to get involved in the gambling would would be posted in /r/wallstreetbets on reddit.

It is designed to replicate the function of /r/wallstreetbets, and keep those posts off of main. That's the definition of a containment community.

Ok. It seems like we're not going to convince each other of anything so I don't see a point in further debate honestly. Hope you have a good night :penguin-love:
