I see the point being treaded all over the place. Father, son, and grandson have run the country for 70+ years, yet I keep seeing people refer to N. Korea as a democracy. Is this ironic joke memes, or just something going over my head?
The media speculated that she would take over when they wrongly thought Kim Jong-un had died (again).
She didn't. The Chairman of the State Affairs Commission, the closest thing they have to a head of state in the DPRK, is elected by their elected legislature, the Supreme People's Assembly. Same with their prime minister. Party positions like General Secretary are voted on by the party. Please stop believing the corporate news media that we're all well aware lie constantly.
Next question.
The power struggles within the dynasty have been violent, with Kim Jong-il's brother-in-law Jang Song-thaek, and Kim Jong-un's half-brother, Kim Jong-nam, having been killed by the regime by execution and assassination, respectively.
Is that part a lie? Why are they murdering one another's heirs and talking about successors to the dynasty?
Where is this coming from? There are no heirs and there's no dynasty. Kim Jong nam was assassinated for being a CIA asset.

Damn wait until you hear about the Roosevelts and the Bush family.
Raul Castro took over from Fidel Castro. Is Cuba a monarchy?
Raul was a hugely important revolutionary who introduced Fidel to Marxism. He literally just retired.
Neither is any leader in the DPRK. The people there just really like the Kims for their relationship to Kim Il sung. They're accountable to the people via the same political institutions as every other politician there, like being subject to recall elections if they get sick of them. It seems weird to us but it really is just a cultural thing.
To add to that, political dynasties aren't even a weird concept in America
how is north korea considered a democracy and not a monarchy when [thing that never happened] ???
In 2013, Clause 2 of Article 10 of the new edited Ten Principles for the Establishment of a Monolithic Ideological System adopted by the government, states that the Party and revolution must be carried "eternally" by the "Baekdu bloodline".
The fuck is that shit?
Why do you keep posting out of context snippets of ... something? Where is this from? I don't know very much about North Korea, but I do know bad faith internet argumentation when I see it and out of context snippets where you don't even give the source gives off major bad faith vibes to me.
Leftists getting their info on socialist states from Chosun. What on earth. Propaganda is strong
Chosun Ilbo, or as Adam Johnson calls it, the South Korean equivalent of Breitbart.
Because North Korea has a national government, and like all national governments, it is run for the benefit of a privileged few. North Korea is no worse and no better than America or Terf Island or India or any other state.
America has killed hundreds of thousands in the Middle East. NK has not. NK cannot be considered just as bad as imperial powers like the US.
True. I meant that North Korea is no better or worse in the sense that its national government exists to serve a privileged few. America is objectively a worse existence for the world than North Korea.
I meant that North Korea is no better or worse in the sense that its national government exists to serve a privileged few.
Nah.
I don't like the Kims, they are basically the monarchy, and Kim Jong Un was basically brought up with a silver spoon. That being said, if you're a leftists anti-imperialist, there's really no point in bashing the Kims and the DPRK, the entire US/Western imperialists are bashing them 24/7 and I don't want to be a part of any of it, especially if it actually leads to an Invasion. The North Koreans have already suffered enough from the horrors of US imperialism.
point 6 in this video if you can deal with horrific text to speech videos
