It does! and it's annoying when no one even sees them!
even when it's just a silly story about a pirate video game
Okay, so I just had the coolest shit happen in Sea of Thieves, just trust me and read/watch through my story, you won't regret it!
(all the links are 30 second clips, it's the best I could do)
We finished our previous adventures and returned to an outpost to sell our loot. After that we set the boat on fire and set it out to sea. Thing is, the boat was more powerful than we imagined, and it became immortal. When we set it out to sea, it was turning just right so it came back to the island and wedged itself perfectly into the docks where it came to rest exactly in the spot we had just been parked to sell our loot. The path it took to get there was shaped like a dick, none of this was on purpose and now the ship was immortal so I decided to take it as a sign that something special would happen.
I waited a bit and experimented, but it didn't seem like it was going anywhere on its own, so I decided to wait it out and believe in whatever magic was happening. I raised the Reaper flag (which marked my ship on the map for others with the flag) to increase the chances and then got busy waiting! I climbed to the top of the island and scanned the horizon looking for ships for about 20 minutes, with no luck other than a skeleton ship drawing closer. Soon it got very close to the island and I decided to swim over. I climbed onto the ladder but didn't go all the way up, and I just hung there.
going solo on a sloop is possible for sure, especially if you play at off hours, but imo it's best with 2 people on a sloop. You can have up to 4 crew, using the Galleon

it was completely destroyed and should have already sunk- it was propped up on the beach and the dock and glitched so it never quite got full enough to actually sink.it was mostly out of the water, yet was also full to the brim with water, like 7 feet above sea level
As I hung on this ladder, the ship started targeting my ship and circling the island. With each lap of the island (taking 2 minutes and 3 seconds, I timed it after awhile because I was bored) it tore my ship apart with cannonballs
Yet still, my ship persisted. It was truly immortal.
for the next 40 minutes, or 20 laps, I clung to the ladder and watched the days go by. I had accidentally fallen off the ladder at one point and had to wait for the ghost ship to come around again. As it came around I swam towards it when suddenly- a player ship! I swam over while playing music to show my friendliness and they shot me in the face.
I respawned inside my ship, filled to neck height with water and immediately see one of the pirates and I pull out my hurdy-gurdy and start jammin even as they started slashing me. I just kept playin, and they realized I was friendly- they pulled out their accordion and we started partyin
I gave them the box of supplies we'd left for someone to find and then we played some tunes for a while as his partners fought the skeleton ship
The two ships rammed into each other off the shore and my new friend swam out to sea to return to their comrades to fight the galleon.
I followed them along the beach and I scampered up to the top of the island to watch them duke it out. At first they were getting their asses kicked, but then they turned it into a beautiful ram grappling the ships together and hammering the galleon with cannonballs: ship wrestling ensued

Ship Wrestling pt. 5
One of the pirates boarded the flaming skeleton galleon and fought bravely for a while
By this point they had strayed rather close to the cliff I was standing on and I jumped down onto their ship and into the fray to help them fight when suddenly
THE KRAKEN SPAWNS and we let loose a tremendous volley of cannonshot
We quickly finished off the Galleon and sailed outside the Krakens cursed waters while shredding its tentacles. [I was just finishing off the final tentacles when one of the pirates came up behind me and executed me with a blunderbuss.
After they left I decided it was time to finally scuttle the immortal ship. I got on the harpoon and yanked, and it was freed but it still didn't sink, and I burned to death.
I respawned and tried to free it with the harpoon once more, but just burned to death again. But wait! as my soul left my body, I saw the immortal ship finally submerge beneath the waves and finally its flames were extinguished.
The moral of the story is patience is a virtue, and don't trust pirates unless they're playing music
Hey! I read it
it was very good
Thanks! I'm glad you liked it :D
im sorry but hold up -- you can give your ships funeral pyres in this goddamn game?? why haven't i picked it up yet
Hell yeah, you can basically do whatever you want (except play offline) this game rules
do i have to conscript my friends into playing with me or can I just be a hermit pirate who sails around on the high seas, plundering alone
