Labour deciding to be a good little opposition party by agreeing with 90% of all Tory policy predictably isn't working. But they're back to bring Tory light, so the apparatchiks are happy whether they win or not.

Russian Peasantry also lived in an alternative world where they viewed the Czar as a father. You shouldn't be surprised that the population believes what the bourgeoisie assigns them to believe, that's how methods of control work. They work until they fail. All this means is it hasn't failed yet. I do think they're setting themselves up for a hegemonic collapse and the USA is already in one, partially at least.

With an amazing strategy like this, it's no surprise voters aren't flocking to Labour.

The clamour for “vision” is a refrain unique to the Westminster bubble. It implies that to win elections and govern effectively, progressive leaders need an entire political philosophy, their own original view about the purposes of the modern state and the future of capitalism. They don’t, and more importantly, even when they have one, it is not the job of an opposition leader in his or her first year to spend time telling voters about it. Especially when voters have immediate, concrete concerns about the wellbeing of their families, communities and country.

So basically it's not currently the job of Starmer to have policies or tell voters about them.

Even on this guy's terms, Starmer has failed:

Here in the Red Wall, voters don’t want Labour’s vision. They want a party that stands up for the values they believe in and a leader able to lead the country with the competence the moment demands. That is exactly what Keir Starmer is doing.

Values like allowing spies to rape, murder and torture, and having kids inform on their parents?

I should have posted this shit to the dunk tank at the time.

What is it with "expert politicians" who's idea it is to appeal to the opposition party's base? They're the base. They're not going for you.

All the Labour shit is like "we need to be sexist (carefully), racist (carefully), transphobic (openly) and stupidly patriotic to win votes" like anyone that would appeal to isn't going to just vote Tory anyway.

This is like when all those MMOs come out and call themselves a WoW killer and it turns out that if the game just plays like WoW people are just going to want to play WoW instead.

Scumbag centrist politician: "For strategic reasons we have to be a little racist to appeal to voters"

Scumbag centrist politician five years later: "The [ethnic slur]s are evil, lazy and criminal and should be stripped of all rights!"

In a few election cycles Labour will discover the neo-Strasserist cocktail of racism and strategic welfare populism. Then they will defeat the Tories who only offers voters racism and rule unchallenged for decades.

Get Brexit done and eject the entirety of that cursed island off the surface of the planet and hurl it directly into the sun.
