Bullshit. Notice the weasel word 'could'. Instead what it lead to was not getting the vaccine out at all, instead of getting any amount of suitable vaccine.

This is literally what government regulation is for, and if you think that private industry is better at quality control than the government is, I have a bridge in New York to sell you. (They tend to be similarly bad.)

Ultimately they are going to contract out the vaccine manufacturing for money, generally without having full knowledge of those contractors full capabilities, and those contractors might fuck up occasionally, but it won't be liable on them.

Edit: Also considering how rushed the whole process is, these vaccines are probably only relativly safe to begin with. Probably safe enough, but not as safe as flu or other standard vaccines.

It's such white savior bullshit and that limp interviewer is the worst person to interview this ghoul (which is probably why he got the chance to).

Plenty of cointries in the global south have the facilities needed to produce vaccines and have done so for decades. Other could set it up with proper funding and/or literally just sending like a half dozen people out to help set it up.

This fucking lying prick wanted to keep the money flowing and the boot on the neck or the global south for his own selfish/colonizer reasoning.

I didn't even think of the racial implications there. Thanks to you and others for pointing it out.

Yeah no worries I just wanted to add a little onto yours because you made great points.

It's a super common theme in "global development" where global north countries will come in and say "it's just such a particular process we want to make sure it goes right" without ever giving countries an opportunity to do anything themselves. And it just keeps them relient on other countries/NGOs like the Bill Gates Foundation which keeps those institutions entrenched in power.
