The class system requires people to be isolated. You don't have to think too hard about how your position is maintained if you rarely if ever actually see the under classes. This is internalized to the point that they are disgusted by the idea of being in a bus with a poor person.
Same! It was a relatively relaxing part of my day. Sure, sometimes some weird shit would happen, but 19/20 I'd just ride and listen to music or read or journal. It was so much better than driving ever was! When I switched to bike commuting I actually kind of missed it.
