Not surprised, though its amazing how much the forces of reaction will fight against a largely toothless advisory body. Imagine how they'll fight for anything that could materially affect them.

It was shocking. We'd expected the milquetoaste reaction of howard to the sorry campaign. Not this. Fucking sucks. But we'll have our vengence one day.

fuck this racist ass ignorant ass country

can't even let an advisory body be set up because of fears of payback for the genocide on which it's founded, which was never going to happen but is fucking deserved

Australians have rejected recognising Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the nation's first people in the constitution

I reject recognizing Anglos as people

here's an article from the Black People's Union relating to the referendum, they backed the no vote

    https://www.blackpeoplesunion.org/articles/conning-us-into-recognition

it feels weird being on the same side as racists, but I did support my comrades in BPU by voting no. yes there's a lot of upset and intense emotions around this, but we can't kid ourselves into thinking this performative reformist bullshit would have made any material difference to Indigenous communities.

Indigenous people weren't asking to be recognised by the racist constitution.

dont lose sleep over nothing comrades, get active in your communities where-ever you can and fight for real change.

Sad fucking day that we couldn't even pass the most toothless, performative of changes. I 100% expected it to fail because I've witnessed nothing but wide spread denial about the impact of colonisation from most of my fellow white people, it's pretty fucking ignorant. Plenty of "colonisation is good" takes here, much the same as what that gimp Charlie Kirk said the other day. Fucking pathetic.
