Me n my brother have been doing horror movie Sundays, so far we’ve watched Posession (absolutely incredible 80s psychosexual horror), Candyman (the original is a...special film), Possum (amazing, scary and tragic 2018 film), and The Void (delightful Lovecraftian gore romp). What are y’all’s fave horror flicks?

I kept waiting for the twist that the stoner guy was the virgin, but it never came

Shirtless Chris Hemsworth and Jesse Williams. Fran Kranz had to leave his shirt on because he's also actually super buff. The giant purge scene at the end. It's one of my favorites ever.

Suspiria is good and the soundtrack rips. Phenomea is also pretty good. The Descent is fucking great. I really liked the Babadook. Midsomar is great.

Shit, editing to add House of the Devil

Fuck, editing again to say the newer Suspiria is pretty good but I prefer the original Italian one.

My girlfriend and I are in the process of watching the 2018 Suspiria after watching the original a few days ago. I really fucki g love both these films for different reasons, but the way lighting is used in the original is absolutely fantastic.

I enjoy a lot of the 80s. NOES, F13th, first two TCMs. Sleepaway Camp series is great.

The biggest thing I'm missing from the pandemic is there's an independent theater by me that does midnight horror and cult classics Friday and Saturday nights. Because if that I've seen a lot on the big screen that I wouldn't have been able to see before.

You might need subtitles but the Japanese film "audition" is one of my favorite horror movies

Zombeavers is a fun modern b-horror movie. It's bad but not so forcefully bad it stops being fun

Some of my all time favorites:

    • Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original)
    • Halloween (original): probably also my favorite series of the 80s slashers. Not all the sequels are good, but definitely watchable with a few memorable scenes per each film
    • early Dario Argent films including Suspiria, Tenebre, Deep Red, Phenomena, and Opera. Suspiria remake is also pretty good
    • Black Christmas (original): slasher that preceded Halloween and directed by the same guy who went on to do Christmas Story
    • Psycho (original): the sequels, while not in the same league and a bit silly, are pretty good too
    • Wicker Man (original)
    • The Strangers
    • Audition
    • The Descent
    • George Romero’s zombie movies
    • The Shining
    • Eraserhead
    • Don’t Look Now
    • In a Glass Cage
    • The Exorcist
    • Hereditary
    • Midsommar
    • It Follows
    • Nightmare on Elm Street
    • 28 Days Later + 28 Weeks Later
    • Antichrist
    • Martyrs (original)
    • Sleepaway Camp
    • Braindead/Dead Alive

I recently watched Dark Water, one of the "big three" of J-Horror, and I really loved it. Really liked the Babysitter on Netflix, too. It's about a kid who discovers his babysitter leads a Satanic cult. Also, Ghost Stories is an excellent semi-anthology.
