Damn, I mean this the absolute upmost respect, but its so cool how there are people who were libs just when Mayo Pete got into the publics eye, but are now leftists. Maybe that's just because after ~20 years of being an anarchist, thing tend to feel... static, but these are certainly exciting times.

Don't worry, if the rest of us are any indication you'll be a Third World Maoist in about ten months

He is posting like a guy who just discovered communism. I'm getting a laugh out of them. It for some reason reads in my mind like this.

Goddamn I fucking miss Michael Brooks. Also if you want to troll some shit headed KHiver/neolibs today, a lot of them are swarming Ryan, and since he's now a comrade we have a responsibility to at least post :PIGPOOPBALLS: at these people.

I don’t know if he’s a grifter or just someone with a really serious case of zeal of the convert, but either is better than being a Warren lib.

Certainly, people can change ideologies over time. I have and most other people here have.

That being said, the fact that this man has aligned with various ideologies and movements in the span of about two years makes me think that he is a grifter.

I used to have somewhat of a relationship with him and he struck me as somebody who was mostly interested in his own fame and wealth. There is also the fact that he grew up in a wealthy family (not that that means you cannot be on the left) and his brother is a chud grifter.

At this point, in my opinion, he is basically discount Jimmy Dore, just without the occasional alignment with literal fascists. Essentially, he acts like most mainstream people on the left are frauds, while almost having nothing against the right. All the while, he profits.

Now, if I get proven wrong, I am big enough to admit I was wrong.

We used to follow each other on Twitter and we interacted with each other somewhat frequently. Ultimately, he unfollowed me after I told why I did not think Force the Vote was a valid strategy.

Even before then, as I said, I was starting to see indications that he may have been shady.

Yeah but ultimately if all he does is post on twitter it matters little if he's a grifter or not tbh.

We'll see what happens when and if he starts doing actual politics.

I agree that he's not that big of a deal, in the grand scheme of things.

the fact that this man has aligned with various ideologies and movements in the span of about two years makes me think that he is a grifter

Except every change has been consistent: moving further left. It's not like he's jumping around trying to find the right grift. What is there even to gain from grifting explicit commies?

Most of us have probably followed very similar paths, just earlier and not as publicly. I remember in 2014 wanting Warren to run for president.

It may be a small niche, but it exists.

I agree. However, most of us were not trying to profit off of it or make ourselves the face of the movement.

I’m from the Christopher Hitchens atheist to communist pipeline. No I won’t be doing an AMA.

Eh, Hitchens was a Marxist and in one of his last interviews before dying he said “I still think like a Marxist”. Apparently his last words were “Capitalism, downfall”.

His knowledge of history and political affairs was also impressive. He had mentioned Marx in his later years a couple of times. It got me interested in Socialism after almost exclusively bashing it. He also was critiquing the Clintons from the Left and it opened up a whole new paradigm for me. “You can hate the Clintons and not be a Republican?”

It’s a shame he supported the War on Terror because he helped me shift away from being a Christian and also helped me read into socialism.

I don't see why anyone would bother grifting American communists. It's such a small niche and you would get so much hassle and not much money

The market for looking Xtreme tends to yield more fruit than looking boring and moderate.

Inevitably, you're going to see this guy make some dogshit stupid take like "I'm a socialist who supports green jobs and Norwegian style health care, not a Marxist-Fascist like Fidel Castro or a serial rapist like Xi Jinping".

Then he's going to get a spot doing a talking-head bit as a C-story on MSNBC, complaining about Radical Leftists issuing homophobic slurs like "Eat a Dick" and "Go fuck yourself". Inside three years, he'll have a book out titled "How I abandoned leftism and became a health, normal adult who supports Michael Bennett for President". Then he'll fade into irrelevancy, but it won't matter once he's making six figures as a McKinsey Social Media consultant.
