just stop acting like the USA is an actual country, it's embarrassing

Lib apologists will blame this on some rogue automated supply-and-demand algorithm gone wild instead of intentional price gouging-- instead of acknowledging the much greater systematic issues in which the small foreseeable disruptions result in an untold number of easily preventable deaths.

But it'll be another semantic moral victory for the blue checks on Twitter tomorrow.

I give us about 7-10 and that's being generous before the federal government either collapses entirely or sheds any pretense of not being a fascist police state.

I hope people in Texas make it out okay and people lash out about this failure. We desperately need to start taking climate disaster seriously and do something about these shithead who leave the public to suffer.

I thought this sort of profiteering was federally illegal. I know it is in my state.

it would be illegal if the hotel rooms or indeed shelter was classified as an "essential good or service". sadly we do not live in that world because "essential good or service" is food(grocers, not other sources.) + water + heat (only in some places and only in the winter months). strangely shelter is not on that list.

hopefully more of your enemies are without power also

btw something I did to keep warm during outages in the northeast (probably much colder than TX right now) was boil pots of water and keep them under my bed while sleeping. Usually on an old textbook so I didn't damage the floor

Billions and billions of dollars for military weapons and interventions, millions killed worldwide, millions dying domestically, innumerable human suffering, the world stripped of everything and 2/3rds animal species killed off — all to ensure that something like this is able to happen

I actually thought Austin was progressing what with partially defunding the police to house the homeless. Guess they've got a ways to go.
