It's literally admitting that you're worth more than we're paying you, but yeah we're still gonna fuck you as long as legally possible.

We've acknowledged that you can't survive based on the amount of money your employer is currently paying you, but if we made them pay you a fair amount right now he'd lose too much money, so we're giving him five years to figure it out. Good luck with the next five years of rent increases 👍

"Damnit, how can we get the proles to leave us alone?"

"They've been going on about a $15 minimum wage for about a decade now, that would probably shut them up."

"Hmm, I don't think the Oligarchs would be too happy about that...How can we seem like we did the thing but have nothing substantially change?"

"We could do it, but delay it so long that we are certainly not going to be in power anymore and the GOP can just shut it down for us."

"Perfect, call it pragmatic and make it happen...or not...you know what I mean!"

Even if they gave us $20 an hour today, in a few years we’d need 25 just to keep pace with the shitty dollar. Fuck it I’m buying bitcoin

I’m wearing my body out for less than that. How can $15 still be years away :agony-deep:

But what about small businesses, because apparently the wages they pay are a great means for allocating access to food and housing.

Walmart ate all the small businesses 20 years ago.

What we have now are corporations and corporate contractors.

I don't know why labour advocacy groups don't continually raise their minimum wage demands. Who cares if you haven't got $15/hr yet, it should be $25 anyway, so demand $30 so you can compromise to that.
Instead, it's this eternal charade of playing catchup, where you beg for some figure that becomes obsolete in 5 years and is implemented in 10/15/20 etc.
