i read about half of Legacy of Ashes before the library loan expired. It was very good, though you can tell the author is a lib who WANTS the US to have a functioning spy agency and is mad that the CIA isn't one. with that said, it's still a good book. can't speak for Killing Hope
I remember Killing Hope being good when I read it like 15 years ago
Fun fact, I just quickly googled it and the second result was the full text from cia dot gov
Maybe I can only get the full text cos I'm logged in from my Langley work account, but if you want to make absolutely sure your IP address is on a list, it might be worth a look
Legacy of Ashes is a fine history book but I really disliked it. The whole thing gave me that feeling like when someone writes negatively about the Iraq war(s) but for reasons like, it costs too much, or the US military is too concerned about civilians, or that the tactics are bad.
As opposed to Killing Hope, which is also a fine history book and is unequivocal that those fuckers are evil and directly responsible for many atrocities around the globe.
Matt called "Legacy of Ashes" a limited hangout but Matt is also insane.
I just started reading the Devil's Chessboard, which is about Allen Dulles. I'm not that far into it, but I would highly recommend it.
