Is Russell brand based? I'm seriously asking I've never heard anything about his political beliefs. But I think he's the only person on youtube with a sizeable following that has even mentioned india so good on him.
he's pretty based in an anti capitalist way for sure, not sure if has any specific ideology. he caused a big controversy here in the uk a while back telling people not to bother voting cos its pointless and both parties are the same, which caused a lot of 'how dare you attack our precious free democracy' kind of outrage even tho he was basically correct (this was before corbyn).

I remember when he first started gaining notice in leftist circles, he did some youtube videos called trunews or something, good takes on capitalism, but then he started getting all spiritual and new agey, stopped following him.
Is this what he does with his time now? Is this why he hasn't done anything since Get Him to the Greek?
He is good. I used to watch his Trews shows before I got into CTH. They were usually REALLY good. Edited with media footage or coverage. Sometimes interviews. Sometimes trying to sneak into the Fox News building to track down Bill O Reilly for an interview. He did some good episodes on Palestine.
In one he answers audience questions, and one question was "how has your movie career been affected since you started making these political videos?" He read the question, then just said "yea, its shit." And laughed it off. I think he knowingly sacrificed his movie career to make a difference, using his platform and entertaining way with words and performance.
I sort of stopped following him after he seems to have made a turn towards addition recovery stuff. I guess there is a huge audience for that kind of therapy, and he is very passionate about it. And then he has sort of pivoted toward individualist self-help stuff, spirituality etc. He hasn't been so political since going this way.
Brand both banged Katy perry and fights against gate's bullshit. He's pretty much made it as a human being. He's peaked all over philly.
Didn't he get fired for a risque joke or something before Christmas?
Might get dunked on for this but listening to his podcasts back in like 2016 helped me on the road to radicalization. Like, he was one of the first people I heard discuss the negatives of capitalism. I was in a weird post-chud early rad-lib stage when I started listening to him so idk
I can't always follow his thoughts, but of the hand full of these that I've watched over the years I've been mostly impressed. (not a high bar for me, but whatever)
