Why do leftists always seem to make excuses for this guy? Yeah he has been part of some great work, especially with Snowden and Bolsonaro, but he has some real chud tier beliefs. To me he seems like your bog standard libertarian, meaning he has no conception of societal power dynamics and his concept of freedom is limited to the level of the individual.

Wtf is trans dogma. Is this the new "homosexual agenda" boogeyman? Some bullshit fearmongering thing where there is a secret cabal of trans folk out there trying to give hormones to your kids?

Fucking TERFS. Put every last one of them on TERF island and nuke it until there is no island left. And then do it again for good measure

Yes it is. Because Glenn chose the word "dogma" for a reason. That word definitely carries connotations of rigidity and inflexibility, along with a certain narrow-mindedness. He's a garbage person.

Yes, unironically this is it. They think that all trans people, except for the FEW 'good ones(tm)' would be 'normal' people if they just hadn't been brainwashed by the TRA cabal. Its especially disgusting with children because they think that by withholding care the kids will 'grow out of it' and be 'normal.' The reality is that most that 'grow out of it' just are able to become inured to the trauma of being forced to cope living lives of silent suffering and often substance abuse. While those who dont 'grow out of it' wither transition later in life after suffering sever mental health problems or killing themselves. So yeah its basically the same reactionary sentiment that places the 'JEWS' as some sort of outside evil force that is corrupting an otherwise good and pure, and as transphobes degenerate into bog standard reactionaries WHITE, society.

"trans dogma" lmao this fucking loser. Greenwald is both a hardline contrarian and a free speech absolutist. So of course TERFs have been trivially able to recruit him into defending all sorts of inexcusably awful positions (A book publisher rejected their tripe!? Quelle horreur!). Not gonna see me defending him, even if he did 2 decent journalisms once.

which is why my name is currently trending on Twitter as a transphobe

I guess that explains why the replies are an endless stream of TERFs and nazis.

The most incredible one is someone linking to current Chapo villain and techno creep Sall Grover where she complains about mean tweets from the trans people.

I read a couple of articles by that lesbians are trans now woman trying to understand the fucking gripe, and I just ran flat into the wall of them only being able to articulate harm by making aspersions and innuendos.

Like, they spend all this time talking about “harmful surgeries”, but like, no pre-adolescents are getting top or bottom surgery? (I don’t even know of any adolescents who are receiving them) The few cases where someone has gone on to regret surgery usually coincide with a lot of other mental health issues.

I just don’t see the harm, even if you buy their argument (which obviously I don’t) that it is purely cultural pressure creating the pattern of uhh transification and not just a more accepting society. Where are the victims? If you believe this is systemic, extrinsic, and harmful you should expect to see a LOT of people regretting their transitions, which uh... you don’t. So gosh, even if you believe the premise that pop-culture is creating the TRANS’S’S why would you give a shit without legitimate examples of harm? Unless... I dunno, you’re prejudiced for other reasons?

I'll bite. Because you don't have to agree with every take a journalist has in order to respect the work they do.

Which is what I am doing I specifically referenced good work in the past he was apart of. I am asking why people seem to do the opposite and defend him regardless of how shitty his opinions are.

Right, and they do that for the reason I stated above. I'd even go so far as to say it's maybe good to pay attention to people who you don't agree with 100% of the time. Even if only to be able to arm yourself with a more coherent criticism of them than that they have "no conception of societal power dynamics".

No you have answered your own question, "Why do people critically support Glenn?" I am asking "Why are there so many people who seem to uncritically support him?"

I actually think Glenn Greenwald is a really important voice on a whole host of issues even if his takes on trans issues are kind of a disaster.

Love finding out about people who I've never heard of by being told not to like him. Like if he's a terf he's a terf, I'm not gonna defend him. I just very much enjoy coming in midway through some kind of struggle session with zero context

I decided a while ago to stop caring about US internal politics and it was an enormous boon to my mental health
