For background: instead of working on Covid relief plans, PA state republicans passed legislation to stop him from flying the pride and weed flags outside of his office. Every morning they’d take his flags down and he’d put them back up when he got to his office. He’s moved instead to hang even larger banners which aren’t flags. I know succdems aren’t perfect but this guy is pretty good and also this is fucking funny. Also I’d much rather have him in the senate than Pat fucking Toomey

This story - while legit and something I want him to answer for - is not new. He was reelected mayor of his majority-black city and won a statewide race since this story broke 8 years ago.

      What is the criticism here?

That mistaking fireworks for gunfire means he's not a real leftist? That he held up a black guy, in a jogging suite because he was the only person in the area?

What is this sub's designated "correct" way to handle hearing explosions outside your house?

I mean as somebody who has owned and used firearms their whole life, since a gunshot is literally an explosion it’s hard to tell it apart from other explosions, especially when you are close to the source.

Why do you think soldiers get legitimately triggered on holidays which involve fireworks?

Pittsburgher here: Fetterman absolutely needs to apologize for this and answer for the other shitty stuff he's done (gentrification, and pro-cop shit) in Braddock.

That said, I support him 100% unless like Summer Lee jumps into the race. The alternatives in the race right now are Bidenite shit-libs. Fetterman is the most left guy in statewide politics in my lifetime.

I wouldn't say it's ruined. I would say that the traditional pride flag's been mostly neutralized of all potential radicalism for a while now. Just like how pride parades were once a community expressing a refusal to hide from the world (back when there actually was a "queer community"), but now are mostly just an avenue for Bank of America to lavenderwash its investments and the chamber of commerce to get people to support local businesses.
