A lot of that is already baked into DSA because of the nature of progressive politics in America (if you see any TERFs in your chapter, crucify them please). If you think people in your DSA local don't really understand what furries are, even a one person caucus that people can come to with questions is better than nothing. Just make sure everyone knows that you're the one to come to for furry questions and just generally help people become more familiar with the concept.
Hey, it's still something that a lot of people can have negative initial reactions to. It's important to destigmatize stuff like that as much as you can. Don't center the issue if you don't feel it needs centering. It's still good to have a voice for that group within the chapter/party structure.
It's actually super simple. Usually you just talk with someone on the steering committee and let them know. I don't know how big your chapter is, but we have a few working groups that are only like 4 or 5 people strong that basically serve as advisory boards. If you just let them know that you'd be comfortable being the leiason for that minority, I'm sure they'll let you.
Would help with recruitment too. Of someone who's been recruited is a furry and immediately sees that there's a person they can talk to that has similar interests and helps represent them to the chapter.

Plus furry artists tend to make amazing agitprop.

In the sense that most people aren't furries yeah. I don't know to what level furryness is something you can really change though.
