Restarting your router won't work. You need to restart your modem to get a new IP. The modem may be part of the router or may be a separate box. Trace your internet hose as it comes into the house and the first box it plugs into is probably the modem. You also need to leave your modem off for long enough for your ISP to allocate you a new IP when you turn it back online, I recommend leaving it off overnight.

She's angry at you now, but she's gonna thank you later.

Srsly tho, a VPN will probably work. Or TOR.

call your internet company, tell them someone in a video game got your IP adress and you want them to change it.

then clear your cookies and delete everything reddit related and never visit that website

Resetting your router won't do shit. You have to turn off your modem for long enough to get allocated a new IP by your ISP.

Nah TOR pretty much does most things a VPN does in terms of circumventing that kind of stuff (but not something like, say, Netflix). Should be adequate. It's just kinda slow sometimes.

Somehow Rebr0 found my alts when my main got banned and he kept reporting them for ban evasion. So now I'm forced to use reddit via tor.

If you unplug, wait a minute, and plug your cable modem back in that should give you a new IP address. From now on only reddit shitpost from your neighbor's wifi. Don't know that will unsuspend her account though.

Ah, if it's static, you may be SOL. You may be able to call your cable people and ask them to reset it. The whatismyipaddress is the one you need to go by. Try turning off your cable modem for the night and see if that does it.

You can probably just say you need an IP reset for diagnostic purposes. Your boss is asking you to test your website's ban code or something if they press for info.

Or even just say you're concerned about your privacy and would like your IP changed. That's a valid enough concern nowadays.

    1. Type "What's my IP" into DuckDuckGo.
    2. Write down your current IP
    3. Turn off your Modem and leave it off overnight 3a. Make sure you turned your modem off and not just your router. Sometimes they're one box, sometimes it's two.
    4. Check if your IP changed. If it hasn't then this won't work. 4a. Don't log on to reddit until you do the following.
    5. Clear out all your browser cookies, history and other bullshit. Set your privacy settings to strict (this is for Firefox). You can also just use a completely different browser, but still set privacy to strict if you can. 5a. Step 5 is to avoid any sort of lingering cookies or fingerprints that reddit can use to identify you as the same person.
    6. Make a new reddit account, don't link any emails you've used on reddit before. You don't need to enter an email at all.
    7. Come back and tell us if this worked or not.

Edit: This is advice for your computer, does your GF browse reddit on the phone? If she does, then you may need to take care of that as well.
