I just want to stay home and watch anime but society is oppressing me

(Unironically)

We basically rebranded this system in the states under means tested welfare. Why put them in camps when you can just starve 'em out? There's a reason we have no safety net, if you can't make money for your boss you have no right to live.

“work shy” btw, which is a justification the nazis used to put people in death camps

I wonder why socialists, a middle class movement, hate (((lumpenproles)))

My mom's unemployment is totally stalled out. We literally have no clue what's the next step to take, I've exhausted all the online options and their phone number is busy all hours of the day. It's so funny because my aunt's all like "well they have to give you unemployment you have no job" to her and I'm like uhh no they don't, their job is to deny you UC benefits, that's how the system's designed.

Thanks. I mean I'm not surprised it's this hard, like I said all of this is on purpose to hurt the poor who can no longer provide for their boss. It's like the neoliberals can't go full mask off fash and kill the poor so they keep the mask on and set up systems that are broken on purpose to give you the impression that they really really do care (they don't.) But yeah, heaven forbid someone who was lying gets those UC benefits, so let's means test it so hard we break it and no one can get them!

Another example with my mom is how she doesn't qualify for normal welfare or food stamps because she's married. But there's no way to explain to bureaucratic neolib managers that yes she's married but her husband doesn't help her and they are too poor to get divorced.

i feel you very much. ive been making an effort to try not to think about my "its so horrible working in a pandemic without a break / working in general when youre mentally ill / i need time to myself" sitch too hard though bc i feel like it could be a gateway to comparison games which are bad for the soul and bad politically. at least i have a job and unemployment runs out / uncertainty is what that extra $600 costs, although we shouldnt have a society where getting something is always attached to sacrifice etc etc

Yeah. In a more just world, those checks would be available to everybody without restrictions if people need them. Its not our fault that the system is designed to make everyone miserable all the time

I got to take my first time off in my old millennial life thanks to covid and it was fucking amazing. Who knew not going to a place you fucking hate for the majority of your time would be great for your mental health?

Harriet Fraad talks a lot about how different mental health would be in a post-capitalist world. I'm of the opinion NEETs might not even want to be NEETs if the world outside isn't completely hopeless.

Consider why NEETs want to stay home anyway, it's definitely a reaction to the horrors of late stage capitalism on the psyche.

There is plastic and all sorts of other things in our food, our top soil is gone, the largest biodiversity habitats on earth are dying, etc. Why would a sane person want to deal with knowing that can't affect that?

Post-capitalist society would hopefully organize against these kind of global problems instead of carrying on like we are.

I dont want to stay inside of watch anime, i just wanna vibe outside for a while.

Unless there are some legitimately good anime out there to watch, and not like high school romance or weird “my-sexual-partner-is-a-robot/alien” or whatever.

Oh totally. This was intended as a personal rant post but the sentiment is a lot more universal than i thought. Im obsessed with Evangelion right now but people should be able to do whatever they want if they need space

I'm sorry to hear that! I'm in a similar situation. Dont really have a solution, but heres a couple things i want to say.

You're not alone! A lot of people are going through the same stuff, the system is designed to make you feel like crap

School while working part time is hard! Financially stable people (if they still exist) dont work while in school, and a lot of them struggle with that by itself!

Hopefully one day we create a better world, but until then, good luck out there! Idk if this was helpful at all but i wish the best for you in this crappy world
