Yeah this is the correct take. Y'all should listen to the peace walker tapes on El Che
Yo you can help the Sandinista in fucking Peacewalker? Did they do a PS4 remaster collection because I sure as shit don't have a Vita (or was it PSP?) anymore
If you use PSNow, the MGS HD Collection (which includes Peace Walker) is on there. But it's a streaming service so it lags like hell.
You can also just do a PSP emulator
They did a Metal Gear Solid HD collection for xbox and PS3, but I don't think it ever came out for PS4/5
That being said you could probably run it on a PSP emulator for free
If the emulators work with a gamepad that might be the solution, thanks comrade
You can totally put Chico into the Combat Team in Peace Walker and I'm never sure whether that's oversight because big central character or whether that was supposed to tie into the thematic downfall of Big Boss.
Yeah I know, diehard(man) MGS fan.
Just always found it odd that with all the discussions about child soldiers that fact always gets overlooked. Big Boss totally maybe used a Child Soldiers in Peace Walker. I mean any version after 3 and before 4 get's up too some heinous shit, but the whole "Brainwash enemy combatants to join your army" also started in Peace Walker.
I just generally think Peace Walker was way better at portraying the downfall.
spoiler
Big Boss totally threatens to shoot a Child because he doesn't want to fight anymore lmao, BB in V is pretty much a saint in comparison.
Not sure where the "Ancap Big Boss" meme came from. Playing the HOI4 mod The New Order and WerBell's playthrough is essentially just that, being both a greedy prick who wants to get rich off of conquering Russia as well as being a Big Boss Expy.

...I need to get off Reddit.
Going on an Anarcho-Christian crusade against Tabby’s nightmare carnival is hella based.
And don’t forget commie Kazakhstan and League/Orenburg Urals. Less blood spilled means a stronger country.
The Metal Gear Solid series really trips me out sometimes. Like, the themes it touches on are really serious, but it's done in such a goofy way with weird jokes peppered in. How can a game about war and child soldiers be so silly?!
I would a Japanese comrade to explain their cultural "lens" to me.
There is so much anime, JRPG stuff, manga stuff, that I don't understand that I feel like I have a disease.
Have you read "Good soldier Svejk"? It's strongly anti-war and yet it consists of weird jokes.
Unlike Metal Gear, Svejk is consistently silly. It doesn't have serious heartfelt monologues on nature of brotherhood and loss or whatever sandwiched between two poop jokes.
There are short serious bits about pointlessness of war, but they turn into absurd jokes. very quickly.
Fighting the Soviets in Afghanistan but also pro UNITA mercenaries in Angola is the ultimate "playing both sides so I always end up on top" move.
Unfortunately, UNITA was supported by the US and South Africa after 1975, which means snake was supporting the US on both occasions
Fairly sure the PMCs there are meant to be pro UNITA (one of them is literally led by a British aristocrat lmao), but I could be wrong.
Sidenote but it always kind of bothered me in MGS V that they were obstencibly set in active warzones but your character was the only threat. Would have been interesting to see dynamic skirmishes between the Soviets and Taliban or whatever, especially as they already had the "sneaking through a battle" dynamic in MGS4. I'm just rambling here but yeah, haha.
I always equip non-lethal weapons ins Afghanistan missions and do the exact opposite in Angola ones lol
beating the fuck out of Soviet soldiers in afghanistan while rocking out to kids in america
I don't kill anyone. I was gonna only keep the Soviets safe but ended up not hurting the bad guys in Angola either. I basically only invested in non-lethal weapons. Makes it easier to get new recruits anyways.
I just let the auto-purger do its work or cull the lowest skilled :capitalist: At the point I'm at now in the game, I have like a thousand plus recruits so its kinda hard to deal with them individually xD
Okay this one is... Solidus Snake right? The Q anon president who has child soldiers? People here have been slowly teaching me about metal gear lore.
