Man, this was hard to watch. At first it was really fun watching her dunk on Vaush but then she segues into talking about Vietnam and Agent Orange and damn, it's hard stuff.

    I know a lot of people are against it but I fucking love following Vaush drama. I admit there's a superficial nonsensical drama-based unproductive part where I just love seeing dumb people get dunked on, but aside from that I think responses from Marxists I respect, like Luna, are incredible teaching moments. As someone who is still learning, Luna does an amazing job at walking less educated people like me through the history & current state of countries like Vietnam, why they've adopted capitalism to the extent that they have, and why they continue to deserve our support regardless.

    Also watching Luna's non-political videos give incredible insight into the daily life of someone in a "global poverty" country. Like it's not a utopia by any means, but it's not all misery either. Like the fact that it's normal for people to have a garden with fresh vegetables, and the skill to cultivate it. I feel like that's been beaten out of me.

      Agreed. I know people on here hate seeing other posters dunk on the usual suspects like vaush and most of breadtube, but I don't watch reality tv so online left squabbles are the only place I can get my trash tv fix. Plus like you said usually you end up learning something so it's not like it's all bad l

      This is a pretty major hurdle a lot of Western leftists have to get over when it comes to understanding communist countries. Throughout your life in America in particular you're taught that the USSR, PRC, DPRK, etc are basically Mordor whose leaders are shadowy ax-crazy psychotic supervillains. But when you actually learn about the histories and daily life in those countries you come to the realization "Oh, they're just another country with normal people living normal lives."

      Vaush is just so fucking lazy. Like I strongly disagree with Luna on a lot of points (not an ML, disagree on the coherence of MLism and its theory of the state and transition, think there's sections of Vietnamese thought Luna doesn't really consider like Ngô Văn Xuyết's work, criticisms of Vietnam she doesn't really engage with) but Vaush's critique is just so fucking lazy it's embarrassing like he's read next to nothing and doesn't understand what he did read. Like my God, even if you disagree with say Anarchopac who has also made response videos to MLs on Youtube, she's completing a PhD focused on early 20th century anarchism (which I very much look forward to seeing finished) and has actual grasp of material that someone like Vaush does not even attempt.

        Yeah for sure, I consider myself ML-ish, I can't really claim any specific ideology, I'm just an absorber at this point. But I can recognize when someone makes an argument that is just vacuous. Vaushcuous?

        almost every comment in that thread if "controversial" besides the top comment which lmao isn't even true. They were complaining about the title of the post and the video being different when it is not. But it sits at +30 points and the OP providing screenshots is getting downvoted. what a trash ass sub. It's also very telling how his fans aren't responding to the arguments being made in that video at all, like I haven't seen one. It's just "yeah vaush can be bad/problematic/edgy BUTTTTTT"

        OMG LOL. I just looked at the sub and almost every video ont he front page right now has 0-5 comments besides the vaush one which now sits at over 100 but only has 20 points lol. That says more than anything I could ever say about that sub
