The anti-Asian rhetoric and violence in the US does seem to be blurring the lines, though.

Depends on who is doing the criticizing, obviously. If Bob from Klansville, Alabama, says "fuck Israel" I wouldn't high-five him.

If leftist were gunning down random jewish people with no connection to Israel they'd have a point but oh look it's the right doing that too.

Leftists gunning down random Jewish people with a connection to Israel still wasn't a very good look.

The style of criticism is usually different imo. "please stop killing palestinians" vs. "we must fight back or they will conquer the world, basically hitler." At least in the mainstream. The latter is both bogus and more likely to cause violent outbursts from reactionaries imo.

Yeah alot of shit with China is built upon a "clash of cultures" mindset, and even liberals delve into "the Chinese horde is outbreeding us"

I get what you’re saying, but I feel like you scratch the surface of 90% of the “China bad” stuff and it’s immediately revealed to be stupid orientalist smears. I don’t agree with the modern policy of the CCP but I also don’t think Chinese people are a weird hive mind of brainwashed ants.

on the other hand while a lot of criticism of Israel is valid I have definitely seen stuff even in left wing spaces that plays on traditional anti-Semitic tropes such as blood libel

traditional anti-Semitic tropes such as blood libel

What is this? so I know to recognize it if I come across it

It's a medieval conspiracy theory that jewish people used to kidnap and kill christian children to use their blood to bake a special kind of bread. Extreme nazi shit. I have literally never seen someone in a left-wing space bring it up as criticism of Israel, though.

Many leftists don't copy and paste Israeli war crimes upon seeing a Jewish person but go off.

Accusations of sinophobia are not weaponised to silence anyone,

Yup. The media will barely accuse that mass murderer of sinophobia, let alone all the warmongers who want china destroyed

No one said “every single criticism of China is rooted in sinophobia”

I actually have seen this, though.

No one said criticizing China is Sinophobic, except for people desperate to bash tankies. Making shit up about countries is the problem here, I'd be equally as pissed if you started making shit up about Israel despite me thinking it should be renamed to Isn'treal

Somebody posted that Joe Rogan CIA clip a few days ago. The CIA agent mentioned that China sometimes finds Asian Americans and convinces them to spy for the "motherland". It went completely unchallenged, of course. He basically accused every person of Chinese heritage in America of being a spy. Terrifying when you take that to its logical conclusion.

The logical conclusion was the Japanese internment camps in the US during WW2 which people just casualy forget because whatever they were the bad guys right?

Good thing Joe Rogan doesn’t have a large fan base that will believe everything they hear without critically challenging it.

It's almost like if you strip any topic of history and ideology it can all look like hypocrisy in a vacuum, but in the real world ones true and the other isn't

....and if that hurts someone's feelings to say, I'd advise them to get over it, log off, and open a history book

Edit: Also are sectarian posts ok now? Cause I can clown on some anarchos with a couple rojava posts I got saved up......

Criticize China without parroting CIA propaganda is cool and fine. The mainstream media coverage of China is thoroughly Sinphobic though.
