it's just...EXTREMELY zack snyder. if you don't like zack snyder or superhero movies this is absolutely not going to convince you. its 4 hours long, its almost entirely gray, its in a 4:3 aspect ratio (this is the one i don't understand at all), the music choices are range from weird to terrible, there's slow motion ALL the time. its extremely zack snyder.
but i was weirdly entertained? somehow the 4 hours didn't seem that bad, but i also watched it over the course of a day, not in a single sitting. i enjoy capeshit in general, and i used to read tons of dc comics and kind of prefer dc shit, so take that with a grain of salt. i appreciate that it was stuffed with dc references, and clearly was trying to set up the next few movies even though zack snyder's crazy vision of a DC cinematic universe no longer exists
The justification I have heard is that 4:3 is close to the IMAX aspect ratio, and Snyder initially wanted it released for IMAX but lol covid so now its a decision to "preserve the directors artistic choice" or something like htat.
Yeah, it's definitely better than the the Whedon cut. Having said that, I don't think I'll rewatch it, but it definitely has more traction in my mind than the complete nothing that was the Whedon cut.
Snyder's vision may be pretty hacky, but at least he has one so the film is more internally coherent.
i like it a lot more than the first version.
